Jill Bowling recognized with ATHENA Leadership Award

Olivet

The Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce recently presented Jill Bowling with the ATHENA Leadership Award.

The award is given to individuals who have demonstrated professional excellence, contributed time and energy to help improve the lives of those in the community and assisted women in realizing their professional and leadership potential. Bowling is the 26th person to receive the award in Kankakee County.

Bowling is the wife of Olivet Nazarene University President John Bowling and has served in many roles at the school. In addition to earning two degrees as a student at Olivet, Bowling has been a faculty member, resident director, guest lecturer and resource person for numerous studies and projects taken on by the university. She often assists international students in adjusting to their new environment and has helped design the interiors of many facilities on campus.

Besides her contributions to the university, Bowling was a member on the Foundation Board of Presence St. Mary's Hospital for 10 years.

“I was very honored and surprised to receive this award,” Bowling said. "To me, this award recognizes what Olivet does to help young women achieve their goals during and after Olivet. I get to be a part of that, along with our great faculty and staff.”

Since the inception of the ATHENA Leadership Award Program in 1982, more than 6,700 individuals in over 500 communities across the world have been honored for their leadership.
