Kankakee School District No. 111 Superintendent Genevra Walters and Exploration Station Children's Museum Manager Sarah Winkel were recently named co-chairs of the United Way of Kankakee and Iroquois Counties 2015-2016 campaign.
“As co-chairs, we are honored to support United Way as they begin this year's campaign toward strengthening lives and creating new opportunities for the people of our community," the co-chairs said.

Walters is a Kankakee County native who has been superintendent of Kankakee School District No. 111 since May of last year. She had previously served as the superintendent of SPEED School District No. 802, a special education co-op in Chicago Heights.
Winkel has been general manager of Exploration Station since 2007. Previously, she spent almost six years as the recreation supervisor for the Bourbonnais Township Park District.
The organization has a fundraising goal of $880,000 for the year ahead.
