The City of Momence will hold a variety of Christmas activities, beginning this Saturday.
Main Street Momence will host the 15th annual Christmas gathering, with this year's theme being "A Christmas Carol." The day-long event will feature Santa and his reindeer, camel rides, face painting, ornament making, a kid's Christmas train and retail and dining specials. The event culminates at 5 p.m. with the city tree lighting ceremony. Residents are invited to the Main Street Momence office for free hot chocolate and cookies.
Also on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Momence Park District will hold its annual Gallery of Trees, which offers visitors a showcase of decorated Christmas trees along with hot chocolate and cookies. The gallery will also be open every other weekend before Christmas.
On Christmas Day, Christmas Day Inc. will hold a dinner at the First Baptist Church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This year marks the 21st year Christmas Day Inc. has served holiday meals in Kankakee County. Interested diners should make a reservation by calling City Hall at 815-472-2001 or Bob Bleyle at 815-472-4987. Those interested in volunteering at the meal can also call those same numbers.
