The Kankakee County Board approved a $118,500 annual salary for county engineer Mark Rogers at its Dec. 8 meeting.
The figure matches the amount recommended by officials at the Illinois Department of Transportation in November, which is a 1 percent increase from 2015.
Kankakee County's Motor Fuel Tax funds will cover the cost of the salary, but half of it will be reimbursed by the state.
