Manteno posts snow parking rules

Snowparking

With winter setting in, the Village of Manteno reposted its snow parking policy to remind residents what to do with their cars after snowfall.

The rules come into effect whenever plowing is necessary and are meant to make street clearing and snow removal as easy and efficient as possible.

When snow falls on odd-numbered dates, residents are asked to park their cars on the odd-numbered side of the street. Likewise, on even-numbered dates, cars should be parked on the even-numbered side of the street. The village defines a calendar day as the time between 7 a.m. one day to 7 a.m. the following.

Cars should be removed entirely from emergency snow routes for at least 12 hours whenever the village has gotten two or more inches of snow. The emergency routes are Lynn Drive, Katie Lane, Todd Court, East Baker Street east of Keigher Drive and Walnut Street between Baker and Cook.

Anyone in violation of the parking rules faces a fine up to $200.
