The Momence City Council approved an amendment Monday that will allocate the penalties paid by overweight or oversized vehicles to specific funds.
The council decided that 60 percent of the funds will go toward street repairs and 40 percent will go toward police equipment purchases.
The amendment also dictates that separate accounting procedures be used for money received because of overweight or oversized vehicles.
The amendment is effective immediately.
