The Village of Bourbonnais recently inked a deal with Tyson Engineering for sewer design supporting a planned interchange at exit 319 off Bourbonnais Parkway, officials said, with a target completion date set for 2018.
With the initial waterline infrastructure plan in place, Bourbonnais leaders will be positioned to proceed with the development of over 1,200 acres in the area zoned for industrial use and located approximately 50 miles south of Chicago. Once blueprints are in hand, the village can bid out the large-scale sewer project to the tune of $10 to $12 million.
Over six miles of 48-inch diameter pipe will be laid between the site and the Kankakee River Metropolitan Agency's treatment plant. The project parallels the community’s Industrial TIF market analysis and land use planning being conducted by the Village of Bourbonnais jointly with two other villages — Manteno and Bradley — plus Kankakee County and the Economic Alliance of Kankakee County.
The planned site falls under the classification of Kankakee County’s Enterprise Zone. Current industries in the area include distribution facilities for Sears and Kmart, along with railroad and steel businesses.
Site study planning is assigned to Ratio and Piggush Engineering, with an anticipated delivery date of summer 2016.
