The Kankakee Community College women's basketball team carried a top-10 ranking into the new year -- and now they have reached the top five.
KCC was 18-2 as of Jan. 22.
The Lady Cavaliers were ranked No. 7 in the final National Junior College Athletic Association Division II poll of 2016, according to www.njcaa.org.
As of Jan. 3, the Lady Cavaliers had a 13-1 record, including an 86-79 win over No. 12 Parkland on Dec. 30 in Mattoon.
KCC opened the season ranked No. 16 in the first poll and jumped to No. 6 in the second poll.
The poll was constructed by the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Poll Committee.
