Bradley Village Board hears update on new store set to take over former Kmart location

Bradley Village Board met Monday, Jan. 23.

The Bradley Village Board of Trustees meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month.

Here are the minutes as provided by Bradley:

Regular Meeting January 23, 2017

CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Bradley Village Board was called to order on Monday, January 23, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at the Bradley Municipal Hall. President Adams presided

Roll call: Trustee Redmond, Gadbois, Cyr, Carrico and Watson. Trustee Balthazor was absent.

AGENDA Mayor amended the Agenda and moved 10A Police Department Report to 6A under Presentation of Communications.

A motion was made by Trustee Cyr and seconded by Trustee Gadbois to approve the agenda with the changes. (5 ayes 0 nays 1 absent) Motion carried

PRESENTATION OF MINUTES A motion was made by Trustee Redmond and seconded by Trustee Cyr to approve the minutes of the Regular Board meeting dated January 9, 2017. (4 ayes 0 nays 1 abstain Trustee Gadbois 1 absent) Motion carried

PRESENTATION OF COMMUNICATIONS Chief Johnston gave the report for December 2016.

Chief wanted to inform the Mayor and the Board of Trustee's that his Department received a generous donation from Kankakee County State's Attorney's office for the purchase of a new K9. Officer Tim Williams will be the handler of the K9, his name is Niko which is Greek for “Victory of the People” he is a full service dog. He will go to an 8-week training program and then will come back to the Village and be sworn in.

NEW BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT Mayor gave an update on the Meijer Store that will be locating in Bradley at the old Kmart location. It was noted that it is a 193,000 square foot store with filling station and convenience store. They are looking to get their permits in early February and started in March and have a 2018 spring opening.

TREASURER'S REPORT Treasurer Pries gave fifth & sixth month report ending for September and October 2016.

Trustee Gadbois had some questions in regards to the State of Illinois payments to the Village and the monthly lag between those payments. Trustee Watson had a question in regards to the revenues in the Sewer Fund.

A motion was made by Trustee Gadbois and seconded by Trustee Carrico to approve the Treasurer's Report for the month of September 2016 (5 ayes 0 nays 1 absent) Motion carried

A motion was made by Trustee Redmond and seconded by Trustee Cyr to approve the Treasurer's Report for the month of October 2016 (5 ayes 0 nays 1 absent) Motion carried

PRESENTATION OF BILLS AND ACCOUNTS A motion was made by Trustee Cyr and seconded by Trustee Gadbois to pay all bills and accounts by recommendation of the Finance Committee. (5 ayes 0 nays 1 absent) Motion carried

REPORT OF STANDING COMMITTEES Ordinance & Technology

1. O-1-17-1 an Ordinance leasing Village-owned Real Property to the Kankakee River

Metropolitan Agency for a term of Ninety-Nine Years. (2" reading) The Mayor noted there were some questions submitted by Trustees Watson and Gadbois. The Mayor asked for a motion to table until those questions are answered.

A motion was made to table the Ordinance by Trustee Gadbois and seconded by Trustee Redmond (5 ayes 0 nays 1 absent) Motion carried

2. O-1-17-2 an Ordinance adopting a Travel, Meal and Lodging Reimbursement Policy

UNFINISHED BUSINESS There was nothing under unfinished business

NEW BUSINESS Mayor set a Committee of the Whole meeting for Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. discussing Technology issues.

Trustee Gadbois stated that she has visited the new Jewelry Store on Broadway. They had their Grand Opening and she is very pleased to have this business in our downtown Broadway district.

It was also noted that there is an Aquarium Store relocating into the old Flip Flop resale shop in our downtown Broadway District.

ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Trustee Watson and seconded by Trustee Cyrto adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 7:27 p.m. on a unanimous aye vote.
