Essex ranked 819th in state in lottery ticket sales for April 2016

The Village of Essex had the 819th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of April 2016 -- up 18 spots from its March ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Essex was $3.72 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Kankakee Times, Essex generated $2,861 in net sales from its one lottery retailer in April 2016, compared to $2,456 in April 2015.

The Village of Essex is in Kankakee County, and has a population of 770, according to 2010 census data.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in April 2016 was $20,117.32.

Essex's top lottery retailer is Main Street Bar & Grill located at 209 W Main St, Essex, IL 60935.

Main Street Bar & Grill generated 100 percent of Essex's April 2016 lottery ticket sales and 1 percent of Kankakee County's sales that month, which was $1,709,973.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Kankakee County in 2015 were Aroma Park, Saint Anne, Momence, Herscher and Grant Park.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
