Village of Grant Park Board of Trustees met March 6.

Here is the minutes as provided by the Board:

6:00 PM  Meeting called to order/ Pledge

Roll Call was taken, all members present

*Motion to approve minutes from previous meeting (2/20/17) with correction (Pres. Roth to work on Com Ed Grant, not Mr. Wold)

Motion: Morse    2nd: Dickson     Motion Carried 6-0

Public Comments:

Bob Schurman, representing the Grant Park Historical Society let it be known that they will be leaving their current location by the end of the month, and are seeking a new location. He read a press release to the fact to the Board. He thanked Don Gilliam for the many years that he has allowed them to be in their current location. Also mentioned the June 10th golf outing, at Minne Monesse, their only fund raiser.

Gary Morgan, President of the Grant Park Chamber of Commerce announce a “Meet the Candidates”  forum to be held on March 15th at the Grant Park Schools Hamann Center  @ 6PM.

*Motion to approve bills for payment: General Fund <3/06/17 $27,138.52, Sewer Fund $5,035.61, M.F.T $250.80, T.I.F. $186,929.99. Payroll <2/15/17 $13,835.14

Motion: Dickson    2nd: Veldhuizen      Motion Carried 6-0

Departmental reports:

Clerk Dillman: will be attending Kankakee County Clerks Assn Meeting 3/9/17

Streets & Alley, Veldhuizen: no report

Finance, Dickson: reported that the finance committee will begin working on next years budget, and asked for departmental reports to be dropped off to her.

Sewer & Garbage, Morgan: Waiting on the sewer grant to return approved, should be in soon.

Building & Grounds, Wold: Thanked all involved in the “deep cleaning” of the Community Center kitchen done over the last 2 weeks.

*Motion for the Festival Committee to purchase 3 guns, not to exceed $2800,for the Fall raffle. To be paid out of Festival funds.   Motion: Wold    2nd: Morse     Motion Carried 6-0

Ordinance & Insurance, Morse: Workmans Comp. audit complete, All is fine, and a small refund due.

Ordinance books are to be updated with returned newly codified Ordinances.

Law Enforcement, Malkowski: reported 116 calls for the month of February ’17.

Chief Frey: reported a letter of thanks, from Momence Chief Cavender for their assistance with two calls recently.

Officer Roger Novak gave a presentation called “Safe Housing” concerning rental properties.

Pres. Roth: no report
