Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

President Bayer called the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of Bradley Public Library District to order at 6:01 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2017.

Present: Bayer, Grace, Rodgers, Benoit, Hendrickson and Richardson

Absent: Longtin

Also present: J. DePatis, Director, and J. Ponton, Recording Secretary

Approval of Minutes:

Moved by Trustee Rodgers, seconded by Trustee Grace, that

Minutes of the Jan. 18, 2017 Meeting Session be Approved as Submitted

Motion carried by unanimous vote

Public Comment - None

Treasurer’s Report:

Moved by Trustee Richardson, seconded by Trustee Bayer, that

Treasurer’s Report for January be Accepted as Submitted

Motion carried by roll call vote of 6 ayes, 0 nays and 1 absent

Payment of Bills:

Moved by Trustee Richardson, seconded by Trustee Grace, that:

Bills Totalling $34,964.06

Be Allowed and Paid for November

31 new readers were registered and 7,712 items were issued in January.

Receipts: $468.83 fines on overdue books - $330.00 – fax - $563.40 – copies – $86.92 - lost/damage – $140.00 – fee cards - $101.26 – other.

Director DePatis stated the following:

Continuing Education:

Director DePatis, Betty Chapman, and Olivia Koerner attended a LACONI program on January 20th, entitled Super Consumers: A Discussion of Growth and Forecasting for Libraries.

Olivia Koerner attended a PrairieCat training session on creating reports on February 8th.

Director DePatis attended the PrairieCat delegates meeting on January 25th via video conference.

Betty Chapman, Donna Jones, and Mary Bass attended the Youth KALA meeting on February 2nd at Bradley Public Library. Donna presented sensory story time information.

Director DePatis attended the KALA meeting on February 2nd, at the Bradley Public Library.

A staff meeting was held on January 23rd for evening staff and on January 27th for all day staff.

Betty Chapman attended 6 webinars – 1 on make spaces, 1 on art programming, 1 on teen programs, and 3 on collection development/forthcoming titles.

Cindi Chouinard attended a book repair workshop at Olivet Nazarene University on March 7th.

Mary Bass and Donna Jones attended a 2 day Illinois Library Association Youth Institute Services on March 10th in Springfield. Both employees felt it was very worthwhile and came away with a lot of ideas.

DVD/carousel project – moved all adult feature films before 2015 into locking cases to free up carousel space.

Miscellaneous:

Had pictures of Bradley Public Library on Fulton in 1985 and 2010 framed to hang in the library.

New display area created for book clubs and changing theme one using existing table and cubby book shelves from Target.

On January 23rd, Betty Chapman and Director DePatis manned a library information table at Bradley West School for a Parent Café.

Erate paperwork filed to receive reimbursements on year 15 (FY 2015-2016) for erate equipment, purchases, and public internet. $21,446.01 was approved.

Om February 12th, Betty Chapman, Donna Jones, and Mary Bass setup a selection of big games at the Family Fun-a-thon at Olivet Nazarene University. Everyone loved the games. Betty Chapman networked with other businesses and organizations.

Director DePatis is chair of the One Book, One Community committee for KALA. October is the month and Jane Austen is the theme.

Trustee Bayer has been helping with local records disposal. Request to dispose of over 33 cubic feet of records was made in January and approved by the Local Records Commission in March.

The Bradley Public Library was number one in circulation for January and February.

Committee Reports:

The Friends of the Library met on March 1, 2017 at 6:32 pm. As the continuation of the Healthy Living Series proceeds, classes are going well. A book sale and craft show will be held on April 8th from 9 to 3. Family fun night will be held on March 31 st from 6 to 7:30 pm featuring the giant games recently purchased by The Friends. The new six 6 foot by 24 foot inch tables on wheels also purchased by The Friends, were a wonderful addition. Next meeting will be held on May 3rd at 6:30 pm.

Unfinished Business:

Director DePatis reminded trustees about the election on April 4th with Trustee Benoit up for re-election. There will be one trustee opening in May. Trustees discussed the appointment process for the upcoming vacant position.

On January 23, 2017, a staff-in-service day featuring Becky Spratford was held and all of the staff agreed that it was very worthwhile.

Director Depatis requested that the trustees watch for their Statements of Economic Interest which should be coming shortly.

New Business:

Website content management options will be discussed at the April meeting
