Bourbonnais FPD responds to 51 fires in 2016

Bourbonnais Fire Protection District responded to 236 calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by the Kankakee Times.

The calls in Bourbonnais included 51 fires - 29 structure fires, five vehicle fires and 16 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $194,200 in fire loss - or about $3,808 per fire.

The department also received 185 false calls, including five malicious calls and 180 other false calls.

The Bourbonnais FPD Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has 12 active employees and two retired or inactive employees, was $26,077 positive as of May 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $511 for every fire in 2016.
