Kankakee County won't be left out of Amazon's view in headquarters search

Amazone

Kankakee County has joined the fight for the new Amazon headquarters, according to a recent press release.

Rep. Lindsay Parkhurst (R-Kankakee) and Kankakee County Board Chairman Andy Wheeler spearheaded the effort to prepare and submit a request for proposal by meeting with state and community leaders, according to the release.

Since Seattle-based Amazon announced its decision to seek a second headquarters elsewhere, many cities and states have joined the bidding war.

Rep. Lindsay Parkhurst (R-Kankakee)

“I am very proud we were able to work as a team to meet the State‘s deadline,” Parkhurst said, according to the press release. “Chairman Andy Wheeler and everyone involved worked hard to make this happen. This proposal thinks outside the box and offers Amazon an inspired, innovative, imaginative, and inventive proposal. It is definitely not the cookie cutter proposals offered by metropolitan cities.”
