Committee Reports- Ms. Nicholson stated that the governing board has not met in many months. Executive board met today for a special meeting to review the language for the insurance benefits as the language was very binding and they agreed to MOU to allowed them to shop for better health insurance plans as their rates went up 51% for their current renewal.

Baseball field project. Mr. Stegall stated that the sod is in place. A big thanks to Marty Schassfma for the donation of sod. He stated that we just need the weather to cooperate in order to finish the project. The fields were raised quite a bit and water should not be a problem anymore. Currently working on getting prices for new signs.

The board discussed the drains around the track.

Mrs. Kolitwenzew stated that the district has the fewest students on social probation then anytime in the last four years. Attendance is currently at 91%. She stated the adjustment to eligibility that was put in place this year has been going well. The October senior seminar presenter was Mendy Corbett. She is a local graduate that went into the radiography field after school and is now teaching. She had a childhood that resembles many of our current students. She met with 8 individual students that are looking into going into that field and talked with them for almost an hour and answered any questions they have.

Mrs. Kolitwenzew asked the board to look over the list of student accomplishments and awards that our students have been awarded. Eric Godines was named 1st team All-State Acedemics for soccer. Mr. Godines, Alex Chagoya, Raul Guerrero and Marin Cintora were all recognized locally for their achievements during the soccer season. Lily Cruz was named #1 student of the quarter at Career Center in Law Enforcement. Nick Elroy and Megall Stegall were invited to the play in the Freshman/Sophomore Honor band. Megan was also invited to play in the IMEA District Honor Choir.

November is full of staff development opportunities for the staff. Students of the month were recognized in the board packet.

Mrs. Kolitwenzew discussed the School Report Card Summary. Some of the key components were listed in the packet. The IIRC website online has an interactive document for comparisons for past few years. Some of highlights include a 95% attendance rate for the past four years. Graduation rate increased to 80%. Students testing college ready increased from 16.4% to 30.3%. She stated that some of the increase comes from the change in testing. She stated that there is still a lot of room for improvement. Composite act scores average across the nation is 21 and SACHS was at 18.5. This is the first time students saw the SAT test. Definite room for improvement.

New smartboards are in use in three classrooms. On November 15th the “Five essential survey” opens up. Mrs. Kolitwenzew stated that she spoke with the Donovan School District Superintendent. They have expressed some interest in sending their students to our school for Agriculture. She stated that she is willing to discuss the possibility with them but does not want to do anything that would hurt the program for our students. She will share more info as it comes available.

The board discussed some of the changes to the weight room. Mrs. Kolitwenzew stated we were able to sell some of the equipment that was no longer being used by students in the weight room. Some of the community members have expressed concerned that they were no longer be able to use the weight room. Mrs. Kolitwenzew noted that the main goal of the weight room is for our students use but respects the fact that some community members use the equipment. We recently hired two staff members to run a strength and conditioning program and they are working hard to make the room more conductive to the students use. Almost 30 students have been in the room each night in the last three weeks. Trying to make the best use of the equipment. At the end of the day we want to be responsible to our our community members but also want to offer the best possible educational opportunities for our students.

Mr. Stegall stated that there was no reason to go into executive session.

MOTION: To approve destruction of the April 2016 verbatim tape recordings of closed session meetings.
