Manteno Community Unit School District 5 Buildings and Grounds Committee met April 17.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

III. Old Business

A. District

1. The Maintenance Department will continue to investigate options to re-route the gutters at the District office.

B. High School

1. Track Maintenance

The bid opening for the track resurfacing project will be on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the District office.

2. HomeStar Bank Field Entrance

At this time, there is no further information to share. The District and HomeStar Bank will stay in close communication.

3. Baseball Smithco

The current Smithco machine, which is approximately ten years old, has been repaired. The District anticipates needing to purchase a new machine in the future.

4. Weight Room Project

The weight room project is progressing quickly. There are two more phases to complete, 1) the mural above the lifting stations and 2) increasing the lighting in the room. The committee agreed that installing 12 fixtures (6 led bulbs per fixture) will be more than enough light for the newly renovated room. The lights will hang down lower in the room than where they are currently positioned.

C. Middle School

1. Parking Lot Resurfacing

The District received four bids for the parking lot resurfacing project. The Buildings and Grounds committee will recommend to the Board approving the bid from Advantage Paving out of Joliet, IL. Advantage was the lowest bidder. The District has worked with Advantage on other projects and has been happy with their work.

D. Elementary School

1. Basketball Hoop Repair

There are two basketball hoops that need to be repaired on the Elementary side of the building and one on the Early Childhood side. Administration will get estimates on the cost to repair them.

2. The Elementary school Administration would like to put a fence along the street side (Marquette Place) of the playground. Inquiries will be made for estimates and will be discussed at the next meeting.

IV. New Business

A. District

1. The Food Services Department has a butcher block table in storage at the High School that they recommend for surplus. The table is no longer useful due to health code regulations.

B. High School

C. Middle School

1. Upper Bleachers Hand-rails

The Maintenance Department will look at the possibility of putting hand- rails in the upper bleachers. D. Elementary School

V. Additional Agenda Items

1. Administration would like to remove the Oxy/Ace manifold system from the High School shop class.
