Bradley Public Library District Board of Trustees met May 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

President Bayer called the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of Bradley Public Library District to order at 6:02 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2018.

Present: Bayer, Fisher(late), Grace, Benoit, Richardson, and Hendrickson

Absent: Rodgers

Also present: J. DePatis, Director and J. Ponton, Recording Secretary

Approval Of Minutes:

Moved by Trustee Hendrickson, seconded by Trustee Grace, that

Minutes Of The April 18, 2018 Meeting Session Be Approved As Submitted

Motion carried by unanimous vote

Approval Of Minutes:

Executive minutes will be approved at the June meeting with corrections.

Public Comment - None

Treasurer’s Report:

Moved by Trustee Richardson, seconded by Trustee Grace, that

Director’s Report - [copy attached hereto]

43 new readers were registered and 9,137 items were issued in April.

Receipts: $567.70 fines on overdue books - $409.00 – fax - $969.05 – copies – $275.00 – class fees – $105.50 – lost/damaged - $25.00 – donation – 45.75 - other.

Expenses: $183.19

Director DePatis stated the following:

Correction to April minutes –

Personnel:

Allison Orvis has been hired as a part time Youth Services Assistant not Coordinator

Prairie Cat:

Director DePatis attended Delegates Assembly meeting via computer on April 25th.

Continuing Education:

Olivia Koerner and Ranae Bruce attended Reaching Forward Conference in Rosemont on May 4th. They attended workshops on children’s programs, reader’s advisory, genealogy, and adult programs.

Summer Food Program: Personnel:

Allison Orvis has been hired as a part time Youth Services Assistant not Coordinator Trustee Bayer and Director DePatis attended the Northern IL Food Bank on April 27th. We were both table talk moderators and received our summer market training while we were there. We are one of only 5 sites this summer for these markets. Lunches begin June 4th and continue through August 17th, Monday thru Friday from 11:30AM until 1:00PM. Breakfast will be served on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 until 9:30AMduring the 8 week program. On May 15th, staff members and Trustee Bayer attended summer lunch training at the YMCA.

Grants/Donations:

Ranae Bruce was awarded a $1,500.00 grant from the Community Foundation of Kankakee River Valley for Preschool STEM program. The library will purchase STEM tools and manipulations to use during this new program which is to start in the fall. The library received a $1,342.00 donation from a fund raiser held by Ross Stores Foundation earlier this year to be used for youth programs.

Summer Reading:

Sign-ups for the summer reading program for kids have started. Adult sign-ups will begin on June 1st. The summer programs will begin July 20th.

Committee Reports:

Friends of the Library-

The Friends of the Library met on May 2, 2018. The Friends of the Library will not offer a raffle during the summer reading program. The Friends are looking into purchasing a sign/banner to use to advertise the Friends sponsored programs when having pictures taken at special events. Next scheduled meeting will be July 11, 2018 at 6:30 PM.

Legal:

Copies if the new handbook (about half of the manual) was distributed to each trustee for review. Each trustee is asked to review sections 5 part6 and 5 part 8.4.

Unfinished Business:

IdentoGo progrsm will go live on May 9th.

New Business:

Moved by Trustee Fisher, seconded by Trustee Grace to set the non-resident card fee for the fiscal year of 2018 – 2019 at $150.00 beginning July 1, 2018.

Moved by Trustee Bayer, seconded by Trustee Fisher to adopt the Bradley Public Library District Prevailing Wage Ordinance No. 18-02

Motion carried by roll call vote of 6 ayes, 0 nays and 1 absent

Trustees were reminded about the requirements for OMA and FOIA. A discussion was held concerning these requirements of Finance and Personnel Committees set the following dates for budget meeting:

Finance – July 5th at 5:00 pm (Backup date of July 16th at 5:00 pm

Personnel – June 28th 4:00 pm

Communications:

A thank you card was received from the Richard Benoit family for the thoughtfulness and generosity of the Bradley Public Library.

Trustee Hendrickson moved for adjournment at 6:55 pm

Next Bradley Public Library District Board meeting will be held Wednesday June 20, 2018 at 6:00 pm
