Bourbonnais Police Department issued the following announcement on March 27.
The latest scam involves the suspect calling you from a familiar phone number typically matching a family member’s number. The suspect will advise you that your loved one was kidnapped/carjacked, and they request a money transfer through various gift card payment options (PayPal, Green Dot, or iTunes). Residents of our community have already fallen victim to this scam. We urge you to call your local police department if you encounter this scam.
