Kankakee School District 111 Board of Education met April 30.

ROLL CALL

A quorum was declared present.
Meeting with the Board was:
Dr. Genevra A. Walters, Superintendent
Dr. Kathleen O’Connor, Assistant Superintendent
Vicki Scott, Recording Secretary
No news reporter was present.
Barbara Wells, Board President, led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Public Comments
No public comments were made.
School Board Election
The results of the April 2, 2019 election were presented for certification, and the following individuals were proclaimed members of the Board of Education:
Christopher W. Bohlen
Deborah Johnston
Angela F. Shea
Barbara A. Wells
Motion was made by Gathing, seconded by Williams, to certify the canvassed votes as presented.
ROLL CALL
VOTE--Ayes: Archie, Bohlen, Gathing, Shea, Williams, Works, and Wells. Nays: none.
Motion carried.
Presentation
President Wells presented Calvin Works with a small token of appreciation and thanked him for his service to the District. Mr. Works thanked everyone for the opportunity to serve on the Board and for helping to move the school district forward.
Oath of Office
Jess Gathing, Board Vice President, administered the Oath of Office to the newly elected Board members.
Adjournment of Old Board
President Wells requested a motion to adjourn the Board sine die.
Motion was made by Williams, seconded by Gathing, to adjourn the Board sine die.
ROLL CALL
VOTE—Ayes: Bohlen, Gathing, Shea, Williams, Works, Archie, and Wells. Nays: none. Motion carried.
Seating of New Board Members
The following newly elected Board Members were seated on the Board: Christopher Bohlen, Deborah Johnston, Angela Shea, and Barbara Wells.

President Wells appointed Darrell Williams as President Pro Tem.

Election of Officers
President Pro Tem, Williams, called for the election of officers.
1. President
Mary Archie nominated Barbara Wells for Board President.
Christopher Bohlen nominated Angela Shea for Board President.
Hearing no other nominations, nominations were closed and a vote was taken by a show of hands.
Voting for Barbara Wells were Archie, Gathing, Williams and Wells. Voting for Angela Shea were Bohlen, Johnston, and Shea. Barbara Wells is the newly elected Board President and she presided over the remainder of the meeting.
2. Vice President
Darrell Williams nominated Jess Gathing for Board Vice President.
Hearing no other nominations, a voice vote was taken and all were in favor. Mr. Gathing was elected as the Board Vice President.
3. Secretary Barbara Wells nominated Angela Shea for Secretary
Hearing no other nominations, a voice vote was taken and all were in favor. Mrs. Shea was elected as the Board Secretary.
Board of Education Meeting Schedule
The 2019-2020 Board of Education Meeting Schedule was presented for approval. (See Insert A.)
Motion was made by Bohlen, seconded by Gathing, to approve the 2019-2020 Board of Education Meeting Schedule as presented.

Bohlen, Gathing, and Wells. Nays: none. Motion carried.
