In a recent community forum attended by approximately 35 people, the Northfield Mall's rehabilitation came to the fore as a priority for the Village of Bradley.

Concepts for reinvigorating the property include creating an outdoor space by demolishing a portion of what is there, the Daily Journal reported.

"Redevelopment of the mall is [a] top priority," planner Lance Dorn, of SB Friedman, the second firm involved in this process, said, the Daily Journal reported. "A major investment at the mall is critical to driving people to the area."

At the very least, Dorn said steps need to be taken to prevent the area along Kinzie Street from deteriorating further. The mall had also been the focus of the first community forum in October.

Design firms of Ginkgo and SB Friedman are due to present their final recommendations in March or April.
