Village of Bradley Board of Fire & Police Commissioners met May 1.

COMMISSIONERS

Chairman Golwitzer called the Regular meeting of the Bradley Fire & Police Commission to order on Monday, May 1, 2023, at 4:30 p.m.

IN ATTENDANCE:

Chairman Golwitzer, Secretary Arrington, Commissioner Glidewell and Fire Chief Kaderabek

REVIEW/APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

A motion was made by Secretary Arrington and seconded by Commissioner Glidewell to approve the April 3, 2023, regular meeting minutes and the April 18 and April 25, 2023 special meeting minutes. Roll call (3 ayes, 0 nays). Motion carried.

PUBLIC COMMENT: None

CORRESPONDENCE/COMMUNICATION:

Firefighter candidates James Johnson and Jack Newton each submitted signed letters of acceptance for conditional offers of employment as a full-time firefighter. Firefighter candidate Jack Newton requested that his name be removed from the Firefighter Final Eligibility Register. Chairman Golwitzer reviewed responses from four firefighter candidates in regards to their progress in obtaining an EMT paramedic license. Jared Love has obtained a license. Dan Hill, Landon Despot and John Bush have still not obtained a license.

NEW BUSINESS:

Secretary Arrington made a motion for the officers to retain their positions on the Bradley Fire and Police Commission for the next year (i.e. Chairman Golwitzer and Secretary Arrington to retain their positions). Motion was seconded by Commissioner Glidewell. Roll call (3 ayes, 0 nays). Motion carried.

A motion was made by Chairman Golwitzer to enter into Executive session per 5ILCS120/2c1 to review background investigation results for firefighter candidates David Haun and James Johnson. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Glidewell. Roll call (3 ayes, 0 nays). Motion carried. Executive session was entered at 4:35 p.m. The Executive session was exited at 4:55 p.m. after these reviews were completed.

A motion was made by Chairman Golwitzer to revoke the Conditional Offer of Employment to firefighter candidate David Haun based on the background investigation results in accordance with Chapter II Section 3 subsection h) of the Rules and Regulation of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners in the Village of Bradley, Illinois. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Glidewell. Roll call (3 ayes, 0 nays). Motion carried.

The commissioners reviewed the current status of the Firefighter Final Eligibility Register. It was noted that only five candidates remained on the list of which just two candidates are fully qualified for the position. One of those two candidates recently accepted a full-time position with another department. Chairman Golwitzer will contact Stanard and Associates to prepare a new proposal for additional firefighter candidate testing to be ready for review at the next regular meeting.

The executive session meeting minutes were reviewed. A motion was made by Chairman Golwitzer and seconded by Commissioner Glidewell to keep the minutes sealed. Roll call (3 ayes, 0 nays). Motion carried.

The commission reviewed the Village of Bradley Fire and Police Commission 2022 Annual Report. A motion was made by Chairman Golwitzer and seconded by Secretary Arrington to approve the report. Roll call (3 ayes, 0 nays). Motion carried.

With no other business to discuss, a motion was made by Secretary Arrington and seconded by Commissioner Glidewell to adjourn the meeting. Roll call (3 ayes, 0 nays). Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 5:21 p.m.
