Cissna Park Community Unit School District 6 Board of Education met Feb. 26.

CALL to ORDER and ROLL CALL

The Board of Education of Cissna Park Community Unit District #6 was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Kristina Phelan, with the following Board members and administrators present: Mrs. Bret Neukomm; Mr. Trent Kaeb; Mrs. Bethany Dodd; and Ms. Tori Legan; Dr. Daniel S. Hylbert, superintendent; Mrs. Wendy Niebuhr, grades K-5 principal; and Mrs. Kelly Swalls, board secretary.

APPROVAL of AGENDA

Mrs. Dodd made the motion, seconded by Mr. Kaeb to APPROVE THE AGENDA as presented. Discussion. Vote: Ayes, all. Motion carried.

HEARING of DELEGATIONS

None available at this time

APPROVAL of CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS

Mr. Kaeb made the motion, seconded by Mrs. Neukomm to APPROVE THE RECOMMENDED ACTION ON THE FOLLOWING CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS AS PRESENTED: IV. Minutes; V.B. Payroll; X.C. Approval of 2024-2025 Application for Parent/Teacher Conference Program; and X.D. Approval of Participation in Pre-School Co-Op for 2024-2025; Discussion Mrs. Dodd, aye; Ms. Legan, aye; Mrs. Neukomm, aye; Mrs. Phelan, aye; and Mr. Kaeb, aye. Motion carried.

APPROVAL of MINUTES

Mr. Kaeb made the motion, seconded by Mrs. Neukomm to APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING AS PRESENTED. Discussion. Vote: Ayes, all. Motion carried.

FINANCIAL REPORTS and PAYMENTS of BILLS/PAYROLL

Ms. Legan made the motion, seconded by Mrs. Dodd to APPROVE THE BILLS FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY AS PRESENTED: Education Fund, $191,843.11; Operations and Maintenance Fund, $42,637.18; Transportation Fund, $5,829.63; IMRF/SS Fund, $6,034.47; and Tort Immunity, $4,226.12. Discussion. Vote: Mrs. Neukomm, aye; Mrs. Dodd, aye; Mrs. Phelan, aye; Ms. Legan, aye; and Mr. Kaeb, aye. Motion carried.

Mr. Kaeb made the motion, seconded by Mrs. Neukomm to APPROVE THE PAYROLL FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY IN THE AMOUNT OF $191,843.11. Discussion. Vote: Mrs. Dodd, aye; Ms. Legan, aye; Mrs. Phelan, aye; Mr. Kaeb, aye; and Mrs. Neukomm, aye. Motion carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Building Committee

Mr. Kaeb made the motion, seconded by Mrs. Neukomm to APPROVE THE QUOTE SUBMITTED BY MARCUS KREGEL TO REPLACE 7,000 SQUARE FEET OF DETERIORATING ASPHALT WITH SIX INCHES OF REINFORCED CONCRETE AT A TOTAL COST OF $49,500. $24,500 OF THE COST WILL BE FUNDED THROUGH THE MATCHING STATE MAINTENANCE GRANT WITH THE DISTRICT PICKING UP THE REMAINING COST ($25,000).. Ms. Legan, aye; Mrs. Neukomm, aye; Mrs. Dodd, aye; Mrs. Phelan, aye; and Mr. Kaeb, aye. Motion carried.

REPORT FROM PRINCIPALS

Mrs. Wendy Niebuhr elementary principal informed the board that elementary students designated as English language learners completed the WIDA Access assessment the week of February 12. Grade 5 starts the Illinois Science Assessment the week of March 3rd. Grades 3-5 start the Illinois Assessment of Readiness the week of March 10. The second-grade teacher Mrs. Zeller one a $500 Empowering Education Grant from Eastern Illini Electric Cooperative to purchase STEM bins for her classroom.

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT

Mr. Kaeb made the motion, seconded by Mrs. Neukomm to APPROVE THE 2024-2025 APPLICATION FOR PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCE PROGRAM AS PRESENTED.; Discussion Mrs. Dodd, aye; Ms. Legan, aye; Mrs. Neukomm, aye; Mrs. Phelan, aye; and Mr. Kaeb, aye. Motion carried.

Mr. Kaeb made the motion, seconded by Mrs. Neukomm to APPROVE PARTICIPATION IN THE FORD / IROQUOIS PRE-SCHOOL COOPERATIVE DURING THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL TERM. Discussion Mrs. Dodd, aye; Ms. Legan, aye; Mrs. Neukomm, aye; Mrs. Phelan, aye; and Mr. Kaeb, aye. Motion carried.

ADJOURNMENT

Mr. Kaeb made the motion, seconded by Mrs. Dodd to ADJOURN THE MEETING AT 7:15 P.M. Discussion. Vote: Ayes, all. Motion carried.
