Illinois state Rep. Thomas Bennett (R-Watseka) recently took to social media to share his attendance at Milford’s Oktoberfest celebration.

“Milford was celebrating Milford Octoberfest Saturday!” Bennett said in an Oct. 5 Facebook post. “Beautiful weather! Hope you had the chance to play some bingo, talk with vendors and have some family fun. Live music. Great food! Face painting. Thank you to all the organizers!”

The event was the first for the city and featured local artisans, food and drink samples, and a children’s play area; the event’s Facebook page said.

Bennett has kept busy this summer and autumn visiting constituents around the state. In September, he visited Dwight, Ill., wetland construction sites that will remove substances such as nitrogen and phosphates from the water to help improve its quality.

He has also spoken about the Illinois Department of Employment Security‘s failure to disclose information on misspent money.

“Records show Illinois Department of Employment Security lost $1.2 million in taxpayer money to fraudsters,” he said in a May Facebook post, quoted recently by the Kankakee Times.
