City of Watseka Code Enforcement Committee met Feb. 10.
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
PRESENT: Aldermen Miller, Muench, Petersen, Brault, Alderwoman Rohlfs, and Mayor Marcier
ABSENT: Aldermen Pence, Garfield and Dewitt
GUEST: Building Inspector Eric Brandt
Alderman Brault opened the meeting at 6:35 pm. There was no public comment. Building Inspector Eric Brandt reported on the following:
IDNR Flood Mitigation: there is a closing on the 5th of March and 2 more contracts in the process.
Nettie Davis: the committee has a copy of the quote from Nationwide Environmental & Demo LLC, this is the asbestos abatement quote that was done for Unit 9, but since the city will be doing the demo, the city needs to approve the quote for $77,000 with a $10,000 allowance. This will be paid for by the DNR grant. Alderman Muench makes a motion to recommend to the council to accept the quote from Nationwide Environmental & Demo LLC for $77,000 with a $10,000 allowance and Alderman Miller seconded. Roll call carried 6-0. Eric stated there will be another appraisal coming for the school. Façade Grant: Simply Country Shoppe at 106 E Walnut has applied for a façade grant for $5,000 to fix an awning, tuck repair, wash and paint window trim and a new front door. Alderwoman Rohlfs makes a motion to recommend to the council to approve the façade grant in the amount of $5,000 and Alderman Miller seconded. Roll call carried 6-0.
HMPG Grant: Eric stated since that time frame on the grant is up 6/18/2026 the Relocation Consultant company will not be used. It will be up to the landlord to place his tenants.
Alderman Miller makes a motion to adjourn at 6:39 and Alderwoman Rohlfs seconded. Roll call carried 6-0.
