In a Nov. 1 Facebook post, Rep. Jackie Haas (R-Kankakee) acknowledged Options CIL for honoring her work in the community.
“Thank you to Options CIL for the recognition of my work in Springfield at your Annual Meeting last week. It’s my pleasure to continue to advocate for the needs of your consumers and those in the 79th District,” Haas posted.
Options Center for Independent Living offers a variety of services for individuals with disabilities and their families, including information and referrals, skills training, advocacy, and transition services.
The organization calls itself “agents for social change that promote equal rights, full integration and equal opportunities for all. As a Center for Independent Living, we are dedicated to the Independent Living Philosophy that a person, regardless of his or her disability, has the potential and right to exercise self-determination.”
In 2021, The Iroquois County Times-Republic reported that Haas was a featured speaker at a luncheon where Options CIL clients and staff learned about how they can advocate for themselves and each other.
