The median sales price for homes in Kankakee during the fourth quarter of 2025 was $150,000, with 115 properties sold in that span. The city’s median property tax bill for 2025 stood at $3,556, which equals 2.4% of the median home value subject to taxation.

The national average effective property tax rate for 2024 was 0.888%.
