State Representative Jackie Haas announced on Apr. 8 that she will co-host a prescription medication drop-off event on Saturday, April 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event will take place at the Bourbonnais Walmart parking lot at 2080 IL-50.
The initiative aims to provide local residents with a safe and free way to dispose of unused or expired prescription medications, which can help prevent misuse and protect the community.
“I invite all local residents to utilize this free prescription medication drop-off drive to keep our homes and communities safe,” said Rep. Haas. “Properly disposing of prescription medications keeps everyone safe. I look forward to hosting this event alongside our community partners who are invested in making our community safer!”
Tablets, capsules, other solid forms of prescription drugs, patches, and vaping devices (with lithium batteries removed) will be accepted at the event. Liquids, syringes, needles, and intravenous solutions cannot be accepted.
Community partners for the event include KAMEG, Riverside Health, HIDTA – National Guard, Kankakee County Health Department, and I-KAN ROE – Life Education Center Programs. Georgie’s Closet will collect new diapers for children in foster care while the Lions Club will collect used prescription glasses during the same time.
Haas was elected as a Republican representative for Illinois’ 79th House District in 2020 after replacing Lindsay Parkhurst according to available information.
