Riverside Healthcare recently held its 14th annual Art4Heart student art show, highlighting the intersection of creative expression and heart health awareness. The event showcased 56 juried artworks chosen from 128 submissions by students representing eight area high schools: Bishop McNamara High School, Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School, Central High School, Dwight Township High School, Herscher High School, Kankakee High School, Momence High School, and Reed-Custer High School.
The exhibition followed the theme “Exploring the Journey to a Healthy Heart through the Artist’s Eye,” inviting students to interpret various aspects of cardiovascular wellness through their artwork. The displayed pieces reflected both artistic skill and an understanding of heart health issues.
“We are continually inspired by the creativity and perspective these students bring to Art4Heart,” said Matthew McBurnie, Riverside Vice President of Public Relations and Communications. “This event not only celebrates young artists in our community, but also reinforces the importance of heart health awareness in a unique and powerful way.”
Local artist Christina Loraine curated this year’s exhibit alongside a jury panel. Juror Mysi Carroll selected three top award recipients: Grand Prize went to Lilli Balk from Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School; First Runner-up was Laura Moore from Bishop McNamara High School; Second Runner-up was Anastasia from Reed-Custer High School.
Art4Heart is part of Riverside Healthcare’s ongoing efforts to promote community engagement and preventive education about heart health. By involving students in discussions around cardiovascular wellness through art projects like this one, Riverside aims to encourage greater awareness that extends beyond the event itself.
