Robin Kelly, U.S. Representative and Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Health Braintrust, posted a series of statements on August 22, 2025, emphasizing her commitment to promoting diversity in clinical research and advocating for gun safety in schools.

In her first post, Kelly stated: “As Chair of the @TheBlackCaucus Health Braintrust, I won’t stop fighting for clinically diverse research. Clinical trials are a catalyst for change, and they deliver medical breakthroughs that should serve everyone.” (August 22, 2025).

She also addressed a recent Supreme Court decision affecting federal research grants: “The supreme court’s decision to cut programs that diversify research grants at the NIH will weaken our nation’s ability to innovate and leave historically marginalized communities behind.” (August 22, 2025).

Later the same day, Kelly turned her attention to school safety measures as students returned for a new academic year. She wrote: “As students head back to school, making new friends & memories, let’s prioritize their safety. Have you secured your gun? I’ve joined @RepAndreCarson & @RepLucyMcBath to introduce the Gun Safety Incentive Act to help prevent gun violence in our schools and communities.” (August 22, 2025).

Robin Kelly has served as a U.S. Representative since winning her seat in multiple elections by significant margins. In the most recent contest in 2022, she defeated Thomas Lynch with over two-thirds of the vote. She previously prevailed against Theresa Raborn in 2020 with nearly 79% of votes cast, David Merkle in 2018 with just over 81%, John Morrow in 2016 with almost 80%, and Eric Wallace in 2014 with about 78%. These results demonstrate sustained support for Kelly across several election cycles.
