U.S. Representative Robin Kelly, who serves Illinois’ 2nd district in Congress, addressed several national issues in a series of posts on July 23 and 24, 2025.
On July 23, Kelly criticized the President’s approach to Medicaid and recent tax policy changes. She stated, “The President vowed not to touch Medicaid—he lied. The Big, Ugly Law guts Medicaid to fund $4.5T in tax breaks to billionaires. I will not let vital healthcare be sacrificed for the ultra-wealthy. Healthcare is a right. We must protect and expand it—not dismantle it.”
Later that day, she commented on congressional actions regarding the release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. In her post from July 23, Kelly wrote, “No surprise – House Republicans blocked the release of the Epstein Files to protect Trump and his billionaire allies. The American people deserve the truth and a Congress that works for them — not Epstein’s associates. They must release the Epstein Files now!”
On July 24, Kelly expressed support for military veterans by endorsing legislation aimed at helping them transition into civilian employment: “Proud to support our Veterans and the Veteran Skills to Jobs Act, which bridges the gap from military service to civilian careers. Our heroes have earned these opportunities.”
Robin Kelly has represented Illinois’ 2nd congressional district since replacing Jesse Jackson Jr. in 2013; she previously served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007 and holds a degree from Bradley University (1977). Born in New York City in 1956, Kelly currently resides in Matteson.
