U.S. Representative Robin Kelly posted a series of messages on her official X account on February 18, 2026, addressing religious observances and economic policy.

In an early morning post, Kelly extended greetings to those observing Ramadan. She wrote, “As Ramadan begins, I wish peace, reflection, and strength to all who observe. May this holy month bring comfort to families, deepen compassion for others, and renew our shared commitment to community. Ramadan Mubarak.” (posted February 18, 2026).

Later that day, Kelly acknowledged Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. In her message she stated, “Today, many in our community observe Ash Wednesday and begin the Lenten season. It is a time for reflection, humility, and recommitting ourselves to service and care for those most in need. Wishing all who observe a meaningful and peaceful season.” (posted February 18, 2026).

In a subsequent post on the same date, Kelly addressed economic concerns related to former President Donald Trump’s tariff policies. She wrote: “Trump’s tariffs are a tax on American families. Trump can try to spin it all he wants, but the truth is that parents and seniors on fixed incomes are footing the bill. I am working with @HouseDemocrats to bring costs down.” (posted February 18, 2026).

Robin Kelly has represented Illinois’s 2nd congressional district since winning a special election in 2013 against Paul McKinley by a significant margin. She continued her electoral success in subsequent general elections: defeating Eric Wallace in 2014; John Morrow in 2016; David Merkle in 2018; Theresa Raborn in 2020; and Thomas Lynch in 2022—all by wide margins.
