Robin Kelly, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Illinois’ 2nd district since 2013, recently shared her perspectives on social media regarding current political issues. In her tweets, she expressed concerns about budget proposals and their potential impact on various segments of the American population.

On June 3, 2025, Robin Kelly criticized the Republican budget proposal by stating that it would negatively affect millions of Americans. She noted that it would “rip healthcare away from 13.7 million Americans“, “steal food from millions of kids, seniors, and veterans“, and provide “massive tax breaks” to wealthy individuals. She described the budget as a “disgusting abomination” that was nevertheless supported by House Republicans.

In another tweet posted on the same day, Kelly commented on former President Trump’s budget proposal with skepticism. She remarked that “it’s almost like everyone knows that Trump’s budget is a big, ugly bill.”

On June 4, 2025, Kelly shared insights from a recent hearing where she heard feedback from veterans and healthcare leaders regarding Trump’s agenda. According to her post, these groups communicated that “Trump’s agenda is making it harder for veterans to receive the care they need.” She condemned these actions as “undignified & disrespectful,” especially towards those who have served in uniform.

Since replacing Jesse Jackson Jr., Robin Kelly has been an active voice in Congress. Born in New York City in 1956 and currently residing in Matteson, she graduated from Bradley University with a BA in 1977.
