U.S. Representative Robin Kelly used her social media platform on February 24 and 25, 2026, to criticize President Donald Trump’s economic claims and address issues of justice and representation during the State of the Union.

In a post on February 24, Kelly stated, “Tonight, President Trump will brag about his A+++ economy and the great job he’s doing as president. Americans know the truth: prices are rising, healthcare is unattainable, and unemployment is high. We deserve better than a president who is out of touch and lies about the”.

The following day, she referenced NPR reporting in another post: “Trump brags that he’s “totally exonerated,” , yet the DOJ withheld dozens of pages on allegations he abused minors. This NPR reporting confirms what we already know: Trump LIES and OBSTRUCTS JUSTICE.” This tweet was published on February 25.

Also on February 25, Kelly announced her guest for the State of the Union: “I’m proud to bring @karenaboutgary, CEO of @ChiUrbanLeague as my #SOTU2026 guest. For over a century, this organization has built pathways to jobs, homeownership, and small business success for Black Americans. While Trump celebrates his economy, we’ll stand for one that”.

Robin Kelly has consistently secured re-election since first winning office in 2013. She won her most recent general election in 2022 against Thomas Lynch with more than two-thirds of the vote. In previous cycles—2013 through 2020—she defeated Republican challengers by substantial margins each time.
