U.S. Representative Robin Kelly, who has consistently secured large margins in her Illinois congressional elections since 2013, posted a series of messages on February 8, 2026, addressing immigration enforcement, Black History Month, and youth opportunities.
In her first post on February 8, Kelly encouraged constituents affected by immigration enforcement to share their experiences: “Your voice matters. If Secretary Noem’s immigration enforcement has directly affected you, I encourage you to come forward and share your story.”
Later that day, Kelly reflected on the legacy of Shirley Chisholm during Black History Month: “I’m thinking of Shirley Chisholm this #BlackHistoryMonth. I stand on her shoulders, carrying forward her vision in service to my district and our communities. Because she dared to run, I dared to lead. Unbossed and unbought, always.”
In a subsequent message on the same date, Kelly invited young people to participate in an annual event aimed at connecting them with employment and development opportunities: “Join my office at my annual Youth Opportunities Fair & connect with organizations offering jobs, internships, mentoring, camps, & volunteer opportunities. Youth of all ages are welcome. There will be select programs for students in grades K–8. Your next opportunity starts here.”
Robin Kelly has represented Illinois’s 2nd congressional district since winning a special election in 2013. She has maintained strong support in subsequent general elections: defeating Paul McKinley in 2013 with over 70% of the vote; Eric Wallace in 2014 with nearly 79%; John Morrow in 2016 with almost 80%; David Merkle in 2018 with over 81%; Theresa Raborn in 2020 with nearly 79%; and Thomas Lynch in 2022 with more than two-thirds of the vote.
