U.S. Representative Robin Kelly has recently highlighted her ongoing efforts to support youth and invest in her district through a series of posts on social media. The congresswoman, who represents Illinois’ 2nd congressional district, addressed topics ranging from community events to federal funding and immigration enforcement.
On March 14, 2026, Kelly promoted a local event for young people, stating: “Today is the day; meet me at the Youth Opportunities Fair. Youth of all ages are welcome to explore 60+ different opportunities to kickstart your future. March 14, 2026 from 11 am to 2 pm. Hillcrest High School 17401 S. Pulaski Rd., Country Club Hills, IL”.
The following day, she announced new federal funding for her district: “Recently, I secured over $2 million for our district to invest in future leaders and strengthen our community. Real economic growth starts with investing in local communities that have been overlooked for far too long.” (March 15, 2026).
On March 16, Kelly turned her attention to immigration enforcement practices under the Department of Homeland Security during former President Trump’s administration: “ICE and CBP were supposed to target the ‘worst of the worst.’ Instead, they’re illegally detaining and deporting our immigrant neighbors and even US citizens. People’s free speech and due process rights are being violated. None of us are safe under Trump’s DHS.”
Robin Kelly has consistently won re-election since first entering Congress in a special election in 2013. In that year, she defeated Paul McKinley with over 70% of the vote. She continued this trend by winning subsequent general elections against Eric Wallace (2014), John Morrow (2016), David Merkle (2018), Theresa Raborn (2020), and Thomas Lynch (2022) with margins ranging from about 67% to over 81%.
