Kankakee County Planning Department Director Michael Van Mill has been recertified as an economic developer by the International Economic Development Council, the Economic Alliance of Kankakee County said Tuesday.
Van Mill has been a leader in Kankakee County's planning activities for nearly 20 years. During that time, he has led several economic development programs and initiatives, including the administration of two enterprise zones and the county revolving fund program.
He is also president and CEO of the Economic Alliance of Kankakee County, which aims to generate $500 million in new business investment, 500 new jobs and assist 150 prospective new businesses.
Van Mill is one of approximately 1,000 development professionals nationwide who have earned the certified economic developer (CEcD) designation. CEcD candidates earn the certification by completing coursework in economic development and passing a three-part, two-day exam on economic development principles.
