The Village of Manteno is holding a holiday celebration this Friday, complete with tree lighting, horse and carriage rides, and a visit from Santa Claus.
The third annual lighting event begins at 5:45 p.m. at the Leo Hassett Community Center on Main St. Santa Claus will also be in attendance to listen to the wish lists of Manteno boys and girls until 8 p.m.
The crowd can expect entertainment from the Manteno High School Madrigals and Dance Alive! Dance Studio Christmas Company.
Inside the community center, the library will host coloring activities and the Manteno PTO will hold a raffle.
The Manteno Chamber of Commerce will also hold a downtown business walk from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Walkers can choose to complete a "Santa's List" by visiting each registered merchant and returning the completed list before 8 p.m. for an entry in the Chamber's special holiday raffle.
Donations of hats, scarves or mittens for children ages 2-10 for Manteno Christmas baskets will be accepted as well.
