Manteno officials held a public hearing Dec. 7 to review the village's proposed tax levy.
Resource Manager Janice Schulteis presented the details of a $1,612,000 levy, which is less than 1 percent higher than the previous one.
The meeting was held in the spirit of the state's Truth in Taxation laws that require villages to hold public hearings on tax levies above a certain percentage.
Manteno officials said that because the village's levy is less than 5 percent, they were not required to hold the hearing, but did so for the sake of transparency.
The meeting was adjourned after 11 minutes.
