The Kankakee County Highway and Bridge Committee considered purchasing a new dump truck during a meeting Dec. 10.
The county has its eye on a new International Tandem rear dump truck that would cost $148,022.
To make room for the new truck, the county will part with a 2003 dump truck with 117,000 miles. The truck would be available for bid sometime this summer and be advertised in local media.
The committee also celebrated a legislative measure passed in December that allowed Motor Fuel Tax money to be disbursed to local governments despite the state's budget difficulties. County officials said the county counts on the fund for $70,000 to $120,000 each month.
