The Kankakee Buildings and Grounds Committee met Jan. 13 to discuss tenants and repairs for several county buildings.
Brian Gadbois told the committee he has authorized 6th floor roof repairs by Langlois Roofing at a cost of $7,080. The contractor will remove the roof down to its decking and possibly replace the decking as well if it is not in good condition.
Gadbois also discussed the proposed remodeling to the first floor of the county building. He said architects are working on plans for redesigning the northeast corner of the building to accommodate moving the county treasurer into a space there.
Gadbois added that the entire third floor of the Kankakee County Courthouse is open and there continues to be no workable ideas for a tenant to move into that space.
The committee also agreed to look into grant funding for courthouse repairs directed at projects that pledge to do "green" remodeling or retrofitting.
The meeting was adjourned after 34 minutes.
