ABC Coating Co. Inc. has begun construction on a new 80,000-square-foot metal fabrication facility at the Diversatech Business Park in Manteno.
ABC makes and coats steel products most often used in bridge building projects.
Project officials expect work to be completed by the end of this year. By spring 2017, the company hopes the new facility will require up to 25 percent more workers.
“This is a great move that will enable us to meet our growth objectives,” ABC Coating Vice President Tom Greenfield said. "Our team is certainly thrilled at the prospect of working closer to home."
The Tulsa-based company has rented production space in Peotone since 2003.
