In honor of Women's History Month, Kankakee Community College will screen “Killing Us Softly 4: Advertising’s Image of Women” March 24 in the college's auditorium.
The film studies images of women in 160 advertisements over the past 20 years to craft a critique of female objectification in advertising that charges the advertising industry with damaging self-esteem, encouraging the mistreatment of women and reinforcing stereotypes.
"Killing Us Softly 4" is the latest in a series of films about gender from Jean Kilbourne that began in 1979.
The free film is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. and will be followed by a discussion facilitated by Associate Dean of Humanities and Social Science Jill Channing.
Kankakee Community College is located at 100 College Drive.
