The Kankakee Public Library board of trustees approved policy changes for meeting room rentals and personnel Dec. 15.
The new rental policy allows one free rental per month to Executive Center tenants. The discount applies to the third or fourth floor meeting room.
The new policy also stipulates that any foods being served in meeting rooms should meet county health regulations and must be packaged and prepared off-site.
A new cancellation policy will withhold refunds for any meetings or other scheduled events that are canceled because of a violation of rules or laws.
The board also reworded the library's personnel policy to allow full-time employees to reschedule their day off if it falls on a holiday.
Employees working half days on Good Friday and New Year's Eve will receive a full day of discretionary time that can be used later in the week.
Library staff will also be allowed to work a limited amount of overtime hours and be paid for those hours.
The board also approved its 2016 meeting schedule.
