County allocates funds for $607,753 bridge

Kankakeecountybuilding

The Kankakee County Highway and Bridge Committee voted Feb. 11 to allocate half of the $607,753 bill for a new bridge connecting Kankakee, Illinois, and Lane County, Indiana.

The amount set aside by the board covers Kankakee County's portion of the project. Based on previous bridge projects, county officials expect Lane County to pick up the other half of the costs.

The committee also discussed other bridge projects scheduled for this year, including one on Larry Power Road in Bourbonnais Township and another on Livingston's county line.

The board said the county has enough to cover all of the bridge projects with about $400,000 remaining.
