The Momence Community Unit School District No. 1 Board of Education voted to not repair the junior high school's gym bleachers at its Jan. 25 meeting.
Repairing the bleachers in the gym at Momence Junior High School was not included in the original repair bid from Optera for $32,000. The board denied the motion unanimously.
The board voted unanimously to accept a bid of $645 per month, though, from Kankakee A&J Disposal for waste removal. It also voted to accept surplus item bids for a stove/oven, a double sink and a floor cabinet.
A discussion on the relocation of the district office was tabled and will be picked up at a later date.
The consent agenda included the hiring of Sarah Johnson as a high school English teacher, Patty Page as a high school science teacher, Kris Holloway as the high school junior varsity girl's basketball coach for the remainder of season, Victoria Morr as a special education paraprofessional, Jeffrey Cassidy as a junior high guidance counselor for 2016/2017, Gerald Sala as the head junior high track coach and Joseph Grahonya and Nicolette Watters as assistant junior high track coaches.
The board also accepted the resignation of Mitchell Ledbetter as the high school girl's basketball assistant coach.
