The Kankakee Community College (KCC) men's soccer team begins its 2016 regular season with a home match against Oakton Community College at 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22.
The Cavaliers have a scrimmage against Illinois Valley Community College at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at home.
Last season, KCC had a strong campaign. The Cavaliers went 8-8 and made it to the second round of the Region IV Tournament. KCC won five straight games during one stretch of the 2015 campaign, according to NJCAA.org. The Cavaliers scored 17 goals in that streak.
The program also had a big individual achievement. According to www.kcc.edu, Christian Slinkard received the NJCAA Exemplary Academic Achievement Award, making him the first academic all-American for the program.
Last year's team averaged 1.88 goals per game and allowed 2.25, according to NJCAA.org.
