Grant Park trustees consider financial decisions

The Village of Grant Park board of trustees met Monday, Aug. 1.

Here are the meeting minutes as provided by the Village of Grant Park board of trustees:

BOARD MINUTES

8/01/2016

6:00PM Meeting opened/Pledge

Roll Call was taken, all members present except Mr. Malkowski

*Motion to approve minutes from previous 7/18/16 meeting

Motion: Veldhuizen 2nd: Dickson Motion Carried 5-0

Public Comments:

Chris Lonnroth spoke concerning his sump pump discharge on to the road, and cost associated to correct this to go in to the storm sewer directly. Asked on cost sharing his share. The board will have a meeting to resolve the situation and get back to him.

Jeff Daniel spoke of a temporary storage building on his property, code violation issue has been resolved, and offered assistance on other issues within the Village. He was asked to list these and present to the Board.

*Motion to approve bills for payment: General Fund $27,806.82, Sewer Fund $365.21, Payroll <7/16/16 $14,696.48

Motion: Dickson 2nd: Veldhuizen Motion Carried 5-0

Departmental Reports:

Clerk Dillman: no report

Atty. Rowe: no report

Streets & Alley, Veldhuizen:

*Motion to accept low bid from Kankakee Valley Construction for 2016 MFT maintenance in the amount of $50,609.60 Motion: Vendhuizen 2nd: Dickson Motion carried 5-0

Engineer project estimate $69,125.00, Lion Construction bid $61,505.00, Gallager bid $63,926.16

Finance, Dickson: no report

Sewer/Garbage, Morgan: Piggush Engineering will soon present the plans for the East side sewer project. Sewer surveys are in for the Grant, a few more wanted. Ms. Morgan gave an update on Heldt Park, sign is completed for the sewer plant.

Buildings and Grounds, Wold: Gave an update on the parking lot issue, and it is a Ill. DOT right-of way issue, as to the un-paved area. Asked to start the process to hire a part time employee for the Community Center. Fence completed at the Legion Park, as well as new sign installed. Thanked the people that helped in this. Gave an update on the hope to air condition the Community Center, waiting for an electrical bid. No action taken on discussion of selling the property on East Taylor St. Someone wants to rent the area for parking trucks, this will be looked in to.

Ordinance & Insurance, Morse: An update on sales of the gun raffle for Octoberfest was given, going very well, $2940.00 sold so far. On 8/10/16, at 6:30, the Insurance committee will meet.

Law Enforcement, Malkowski: In his absence, Chief Frey reported the breakdown on the 113 calls for last month. Officer Hopkins has resigned from duty.

Pres. Roth: no report
