Tigers tamed by No. 4 St. Francis

The Olivet Nazarene University football team fell to 0-2 in the 2016 season with its 58-14 loss to No. 4 St. Francis on Saturday, Sept. 3, in Bradley.

According to onutigers.com, the Cougars ran off the game's first 51 points as quarterback Nick Ferrer had a big day, going 20-of-28 passing for 344 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. St. Francis' ground game also was strong. Justin Green had 112 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries, while Aaron Harris had 103 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.

For the Tigers, quarterback Jordan Lawton was 14-of-23 passing for 145 yards, a touchdown and an interception, but was sacked eight times. Ryan Stoves led the team in rushing (35 yards) and receiving (39 yards).


On defense, Caleb Coe had nine tackles. Tyler Davis and T.J. Wilson each had eight tackles.

The Tigers will attempt to rebound against Lindenwood University-Belleville at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, in Belleville. According to LindenwoodLynx.com, the Lynx fell to Siena Heights University 31-16 in their season opener Saturday, Sept.3, in Adrian, Michigan. LB committed five turnovers in the game, including four interceptions, and was outgained 301-269 in total yards.
