TREASURER REPORT – Treasurer Becky Peterson: Absent

MAYORAL REPORT Mayor Porter stated he will be holding off on resolution for refuge. Question was asked what power of authority resolution would have; he would try to address everything on resolution. Alderman Nova Metz stated she was confused with whole meeting last week. Still affects City greatly and also effects Fire Department and Schools. Acquiring purchase of property would take taxes away from City (School, County, etc.). Renting doesn’t change ownership and acquisition. Fish and wildlife intention is to speak to landowners about this. New presentation, not buy up residential homes or acquire any homes under 5 acres. City doesn’t have jurisdiction but does have right/opportunity to come to a compromise. Take a look at ordinance again to look at another way to be more receptive. If City is to be affective, to express intent of opinion, City needs to oppose. Alderman Rehmer stated that the Council represents citizens; our responsibility is to speak for them. Payment is not to be expected from them (Fish and Wildlife). Is this really the way we, as a Council, feel about this. It was stated that it is probably an elected official’s duty to send message that we are supportive of them. Taxes would need to be increased to offset loss of taxes. Loss of enrollment would affect school receipt of income. Put on agenda to look into further at next council meeting. Council will look at resolution to see how it can be brought back to Council to look into passing at next meeting. To be put on agenda.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Alderman Nova Metz made a motion to enter into Executive Session to discuss the employment and compensation, of specific employees of the public body with the potential of actions on matters discussed in closed session. Entered into Executive Session at 7:53P.M.; returned from Executive Session at 8:35P.M.

Alderman Steele made a motion to accept raises as presented and to promote Rick Clark as Assistant Supervisor with Street and Alley department with benefits. Alderman Cook seconded the motion with Aldermen Nova Metz, Steele, Rehmer, Cook, Lesyna and John Metz voting yes.
