Olivet Nazarene University's soccer and softball teams just got a little stronger thanks to two signings, the school announced recently.
Mary Reddy from Elkhart, Indiana, is joining ONU's women's soccer team. A midfielder, Reddy was a Northern Indiana Soccer All-Conference selection twice and a four-year varsity member while playing for Elkhart Christian Academy. She scored 29 goals in her senior season -- a school record.
In softball, Colleen McLaughlin signed with ONU after transferring from Kankakee Community College. McLaughlin, who plays catcher and in the outfield, is an alumna of Lincoln Way Central High School, where she was the team MVP and a Southwest Suburban All-Conference pick.
Last season as a freshman with KCC, McLaughlin batted .313 with a .434 on-base percentage and .483 slugging percentage in 56 games. She also had three home runs, 45 runs and 31 RBIs.
Reddy is considering Spanish as her major, while McLaughlin plans to study exercise-science major.
